Queen's Quay is part of the Harbourfront District of downtown Toronto and is a favourite shop of many people living in the city. This street is the most southerly corridor moving east-west and originally served as an access road for slips and ports headed for the inner harbour. In the 1970s large commercial buildings started popping up at the end of Bay Street, including Harbour Square and the Westin Harbour Castle. Through the 1990s and early 2000s more complexes were added by major developers and a few architect Canada firms and now the regions is full of condominiums, shopping establishments, and restaurants.

Today, Queen's Quay is starting on a new transformation as plans for Waterfront Toronto commence. This is an effort to create a grand lakefront boulevard that will include a streetcar track and a large pedestrian space to the south. It also will add more green areas and reduce Queen's Quay to two lanes of traffic. This project is part of a citywide initiative to reduce the city's carbon footprint and start being more conscious of our energy choices. Many of the buildings now being constructed in the area, from homes to commercial structures that hold office or a catering Toronto firm, are incorporating greener building materials and systems.

There are several notable attractions and buildings present along Queen's Quay and in the Harbourfront District. Queen's Quay Terminal started as a cold storage terminal when it was built in 1926 and was converted into a set of condos and a shopping center in 1983. Harbourfront Centre was built be the federal government in 1972 when they were criticized by the City of Toronto for putting all of their entertainment funds into Montreal. Since then it has worked to create art with more than four hundred outside organizations. Teachers to people who do DVD replication Toronto based have been here to see a show over the years.

This is one of the best parts of the city to come and explore the waterfront. In the summer you can window shop and stop to sit on wrought iron furniture Toronto made on a patio and enjoy lunch or a glass of wine. You could also visit locations like Captain John's Floating Restaurant or head down to the Toronto Island Ferry Docks. And you can't miss walking along one of the Toronto Waterfront WaveDecks.

If you're considering living in downtown Toronto and are exploring various neighborhoods than you should definitely check out all that Harbourfront has to offer. You will find everything from a grocery store to some of the best personal trainers Toronto has to offer within walking distance and will find and endless supply of great entertainment options.
